Disclaimer – this is a Christian story. Tune in or tune out.
I have just experienced the most tangible spiritual walk in the 10 years my Christian journey. It reassured me, with precise clarity, of the very thing that I am called to do, and that’s business for the Kingdom.
Until God calls me with the same kind of clarity to do something else, this is my mission for life.
Here’s the story.
I was offered the opportunity to become a sponsor at the Kingdom Business Summit at the Gold Coast, hosted by my great business coach Wez Hone of the Business GREENhouse.
The idea was to showcase my business via a display table, after months of fine-tuning and streamlining with Wez’s coaching program; to make contacts, eventually get leads and sales. It was also a great opportunity to be exposed as a business based on the Christian faith and all the good stuff that is associated with Jesus.
Long story short – two weeks leading up to the event, I was hit by consecutive attacks of spiritual warfare:
My auntie passed away in China
My grandma passed away in Hong Kong
My marketing superstar pulled out of the trip due to the early arrival of his new baby (Murray my Content Specialist ended up tagging along, which was a blessing on it’s own right)
My 20-month old daughter got hit with a high fever
My 6-month pregnant wife fell sick
I fell sick
There were suspected symptoms of abnormality to the pregnancy
My cashflow was drained to the bottom-line after preparing all the promo materials (partly my fault, let’s leave the enemy out of this one)
My driver’s license was expired when I picked up my car at the Gold Coast (my fault again, and Murray was the life-saver in that case)
So I was tossing up the choices of going or not going, being pulled back and forth by family commitments, overseas funerals, being sick, and the grief of losing two significant ones in two weeks.
Now allow me to take a timeout to explain my spiritual background. Since being a Christian in 2005, I was bought up in a traditional church denomination with a strong focus in doctrine, with seldom mentions in what is conceived as “Pentecostal”. Anyway, you get the idea, and let’s leave the theology for another blog.
So my understanding and perception to terms such as spiritual warfare, prophetic word or angelic visitation has always been conservative.
And again, let’s leave the theology for another blog…
One thing that I did learn from the summit though, is that “doctrine doesn’t unite Christians, vision does”.
I just can’t help myself isn’t it!
Anyway, in light of all that, I realised it was the devil who’s trying to stop me from being at the event, meaning that God had installed something absolutely HUGE up for grabs.
I knew it with certainty in my spirit, and with God’s strength and the support of my family, I eventually pushed through in committing myself to the original plan.
The result was beyond amazing. Words cannot describe the aftermath of making myself available to summit. I was so empowered by the content of the event, and found myself adding value to people who come across our table, inquiring the products and services of SeeSharp Productions. It reassured me that what we have worked so hard to construct was of true relevance to our target audience.
On another important note, it was apparent that there were a number of people who experienced the same, if not worse, level of warfare leading up to the event, especially for those who were presenting, displaying or spiritually hungry to grow their business through this event. This was particularly comforting to know that I was not alone, and that God was truly up for something extreme for His glory.
To make things even more intriguing, I received a prophetic word via a qualified prophet at the end of the summit, and it was so powerfully accurate, to a point that it was almost like God Himself was physically reaffirming the passion, vision and experience He has taken me through business since 2008.
Again an eye-opening experience to my conservative spiritual background!
As I am writing this, I have had an amazing 1.5 weeks after the summit, of deals and opportunities pouring into our funnel, some from the event, and some out of nowhere!
Additionally, the week after the summit, we had a follow up workshop on Prophetic Activation, and that has taken my spiritual life to a whole new level.
In summary, this has been a life-changing experience for me and my business, and most importantly, it has been a humbling one. Knowing God is absolutely faithful, that my business is beyond my control in the hands of the almighty God, gives me true peace then claiming full ownership out of my own strength.
It’s one thing to hear stories like this, but another when you’re the one that actually experienced the supernatural.
“We are the natural where God brings the super” – quote from Supernatural Business, written by Wez Hone.
Allow me to use one of my favourite verses from the Bible to conclude this story
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
…P.S: My grandma passed away a Christian at the age of 89, first in our family tree as far as I know. And I got to write a God-inspired speech read by my mum who is a non-Christian.
For those who read Chinese, here’s my speech:
